Javier Sierra

He is the only contemporary Spanish author who has managed to place his novels in the top ten of the best-selling books in the United States.

His works are translated into more than forty languages and are a source of inspiration for many readers who seek something more than entertainment in a story of intrigue.

Trained in the world of journalism, he co-founded the monthly magazine Año Cero in 1990, director of the magazine Más Allá de la Ciencia for seven years, as well as presenter and director of radio and television spaces in Spain-, now he invests his time in investigate arcana of History and write about them.

It has given to press very popular titles among which they emphasize the secret dinner (published in 43 countries), the blue lady (published in other 20), the forbidden route, the templarias doors, the lost angel, the teacher of the Prado (that was the best-selling Spanish fiction in 2013), The Immortal Pyramid or the 2017 Novel Planet Award, The Invisible Fire, where he confronts the enigmas of artistic creation through an unusual quest for the Grail.

He has several other literary awards, such as his finalist for the City of Torrevieja Novel Prize for the secret dinner, or international as his three Latin Book Awards awarded to the Best Historical Novel of the year 2007 published in English in the US. , for The Blue Lady, and the Best Adventure Book of 2011 in English and Spanish, for The Lost Angel.

He has also received honors such as the one that in 2009 distinguished him as Adoptive Son of Ágreda (Soria) for the international diffusion given to the life of Sister María de Jesús de Ágreda, a seventeenth-century cloistered nun who was attributed the conversion of thousands of Native Americans from New Mexico, Arizona and Texas thanks to the mystical gift of bilocation.

In 2017 Javier also received the Cross of San Jorge, the highest decoration awarded by the province of Teruel, for the contribution of his work to the "honor and good name" of the land that saw him born.

All his books have a common denominator: they bridge the reader to cross from this to other worlds.

And they do it on a footbridge based on solid scientific and historical mysteries.

Often the author explains that his literary work, both in narrative and in essay, must be understood as a whole.

"While in my research books I transfer great questions to the reader, in my novels I put my imagination to work to propose answers that will clear them," he says.

If something stands out in the biography of this writer is his precocity.

He entered the world of communication when he was just twelve years old when he put himself in charge of a weekly radio program for a children's audience in his hometown.

At that time he had already written his first articles and stories, although his entry into the written press would not occur until sixteen.

With nineteen and his journalism studies recently started in Madrid, he participated in the foundation of the monthly magazine Zero Year, and at twenty-four he was already printing his first book.

Since then, among his personal efforts highlights the need to emphasize that the hidden, extreme and heterodox beliefs, the magical or the supernatural, are an inexcusable part of our culture and should be elements that are studied, pondered and disseminated with rigor.

His works are, therefore, the result of that effort and have made Javier Sierra an author with an authoritative voice, unique in the international contemporary literary scene.

Javier lives in Madrid.

He is married, has two children and is working at the same time - in his next three books.
