Following the inaugural conference last Thursday by Inocencio Arias, landed in the River Lyrics poet and translator Cartagena, Jose Maria Alvarez, who will give a lecture titled as 'Reading Annotated'.
The Poetry Classroom director of the University of Murcia, Isabela Garcia, will moderate the discussion that will take place tomorrow, the 27th, in the MUCAB at 20 hours.
Biography José María Álvarez
Born in Cartagena (Spain) on May 31, 1942.
He graduated in Philosophy, History and Geography Specialty (Universities of Madrid and Murcia) and also studied Philosophy Pure (Universities of Madrid and La Sorbonne).
His life has been devoted to literature and travel.
She has two children - Michael (1964) and Rafael (1966) - from his first marriage.
Presently living in Spanish east coast and Paris.
His first literary performances took place in 1957, in the Cultural Hall of the Savings Bank of the South: organization of film clubs, lectures, theater, etc.
From this period dates his first publications: ALMA AND POETRY AND PSYCHE.
In 1959 appears as his poetry published in a national magazine: JOURNAL OF ART AND THOUGHT.
And in 1961 it was first published outside Spain, being carried in Les Lettres Françaises (Paris).
He has given readings of his poems, and lectures, and these are published (as well as some of his novels) in the U.S., France, Italy, England, Ireland, Germany, China, Mexico, Canada, Senegal, Tunisia, Iraq, Iran , Nicaragua, Argentina, Greece, Holland, Belgium, Japan, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Sweden, Cuba, Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, Brazil, Venezuela, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Chekia, etc.
Has translated into Spanish the finished work of Cavafy Konstantino, "Treasure Island", "Weir of Hermiston" and the poems of Robert Louis Stevenson, "The Waste Land" by TS EIiot, an anthology of poetry in English Nightingale, the complete works of François Villon, the "Sonnets" by William Shakespeare, "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London, the "Ode on the Death of the Duke of Wellington" Tennyson, "scrapbook of a hazy 66" John Liddy, and in collaboration with Txaro Santoro "Poems of Madness" by Friedrich Hölderlin, "scrapbook of a hazy 66" John Liddy, and Anastasya Agarisseva "vertebral Flute" by Vladimir Mayakovsky.
Some of these translations - like Cavafy - have been bestsellers and have significantly influenced the development of Spanish poetry.
His own poetry has been shaped over the years, a book: Wax Museum, whose first edition was published in 1974 and the seventh and last (and first full) 2002.
Other books of his poetry are: BOOK OF NEW TOOLS (1964) considered by the magazine "Index" as the best book of poetry of that year, The Golden Age (1980), and Spanish reissue in 2004 and Italy in 1986 ); NIGHT (1983 and subsequent editions); Tosigo ARDENTO (1985 and 2004 Italian reissue) The Shield of Achilles (1987), Signifying Nothing (1989), loot WORLD (1994); BRONZE SNAKE (1996 , French edition in 2000); AHAB's Tear (1999), for a lady with a past (Italian edition in 2004), on the delicacy of taste and passion (2006); DRINKING THE MOONLIGHT ON THE RUINS (2008).
Successive editions WAX MUSEUM increases were in 1976, 1979, 1983, 1989, 1992 and 2002.
