Water Commissioner of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), Manuel Aldeguer, visited the stretch of river trail that runs along the Dam of eyes in the town of Blanca, who has restored Guard Association of the Segura River by project under the Rivers Volunteer Program of the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM).

The main objective of this project is the recovery of a stretch of 180 meters from the river path by the technique of dry stone construction, while the cleansing of the area and removal of plants and solid waste as well as planting of native species and pruning tarays and palm trees surrounding the trail.

This association has sought, through this action, raising awareness on cultural resources, heritage, natural landscape and the need for protection and care of our unique environment, both in addition to assisting in the tasks of sustainable development through healthy activities, ecological and authentic.

Also, this type of project is the youth and people who show interest in the matter, some traditional techniques, just as known today, used the stone as a nearby resource and awareness of proper utilization of material resources found in our environment.

The Association of Rivers Safe-Guard, composed of the River Keepers own that perform the supervision and custody of the Public Water of the River Segura, values ​​volunteerism as a mechanism for the rehabilitation and improvement of our rivers.

The association notes that many have been lost river paths and roads, connecting the river, towns and villages in the Segura Basin.

New forms of transport, road building have been relegated to the disappearance of hundreds of miles of roads and river trails, some of whom served in layout of roads and some stopped beating, so the vegetation was hiding.

Therefore, this project aims to recover a small part of a trail that connected eyes with the town of Blanca, and, to built the dam to regulate the waters from the headwaters of the Tagus in the 70's of XX century disappeared, replaced this with a road trip.
