The multipurpose building created by architect Martin Lejarraga has been awarded first prize in the prestigious BigMat of Architecture, which aims to distinguish the most important Spanish architectural projects and promote national and international prestige of our professionals
"This award is a national recognition project for the future of our people, the projected modernization White around the country with this award not only recognizes the significance and architectural quality of a performance, but also the value of a municipality that grows and adapts to changing times, and understand that only through hard work and we hope to be at the forefront of municipalities in the Region of Murcia ".
With these words referred to by Mayor White, Rafael Laorden, the importance of this award BigMat architecture, which includes mainly urban integration and adaptation of architecture to the new needs of contemporary society, within the interior architecture and outside the building.
The jury considered that the set designed by architect Martin Lejarraga is a performance that goes beyond the strict construction, since the MUCAB is a new place which promotes social concentration of a new social and public space throughout the building and its environment.
Along the river, extending the intervention from the areas adjacent to the building to the square next, unifying pavements and performance criteria, establishing new connections, facilitating access and enhancing the environment in which it operates.
This establishes a system of action that combines urban style with edificatorio, having as main objectives the course of the river bank, make new connections, easy accessibility and enhancing the environment in which it operates.
Of note is the difficulty that the building uses very different focus, rightly practices which are grouped into three program packages connected by courtyards.
Each works both independently, and communicating with each other, allowing the overlap of programs, visual communication and temporary occupation.
Thus the MUCAB becomes the place of connection for all social strata of the locality.
In this edition of the awards were presented almost one hundred projects throughout the Spanish geography, covering all types of actions: from rural health centers to airports, housing, institutional buildings, casinos, schools, promenades, among many others.
BigMat Architecture Awards are aimed at professionals responsible for the design of construction works that have developed the project since December 2005 taking into account the urban integration and the changing needs of society today, in the interior architecture and outside the building.
