White is awarded the Queen Sofia Accessibility (06/12/2008)

The Ministry of Education and Science, through the Royal Board on Disabilities, has awarded the City of White Queen Sofia Prize for Universal Accessibility.

White becomes the first city in Spain to receive the award, which will be handed to the Queen Queen Sofia next March, its first participation.

These awards recognize the continued work for at least five years in the universal accessibility of persons with disabilities to the physical environment, education, leisure, culture, sport, transport, tourism and new technologies.

White Township has been awarded the Queen Sofia of Universal Accessibility of Municipalities, in the category up to ten thousand inhabitants.

The prize, awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science, through the Royal Board on Disability, carries a cash prize amounting to the amount of 15,000 €, financed at 50 per 100 by the Royal Board on Disability and the Foundation ACS.

The Royal Board on Disability has awarded the municipality of Murcia this distinction by presenting a comprehensive and advanced in the proceedings, with a dedication imaginative in different areas, setting in motion an initiative of respite care, and measures derived from the Plan Accessibility of City Hall.

The Board emphasizes the activity of the local employment center because it proposes the integration of all people with disabilities into the regular work system and promotes use of the same through agreements with the Labour Integration Service.

It also provides care for domestic, social, psychological and rehabilitative bench through the Home Help Service.

The mayor of White, Rafael Laorden, proudly declaring that "it is a great achievement for the whole municipality.

Along with this award, which awards to municipalities for up to ten thousand inhabitants there are two more prizes.

One for those municipalities between 10,001 and 100,000 inhabitants, which has fallen in the city of Avila, and another that is open to all those councils over a hundred thousand inhabitants, this time grasping h for the municipality of Elche.
