White opens a car adapted for the disabled (18/11/2009)

The Mayor of the municipality, Rafael Laorden, receives the vehicle after signing last May of a cooperation agreement between the city council and the Foundation Cajamurcia

Laorden: "One more step in our fight to make White a municipality increasingly accessible and provide equal opportunities to the disabled"

Laorden Rafael Carrasco, Mayor White on Wednesday received a vehicle adapted to persons with disabilities, with the director of the Foundation Cajamurcia, José Moreno Espinosa, and his manager, Pascual Ortiz Martínez.

The award ceremony took place at the newly opened residence and day center Virgen de los Dolores "where most will use this vehicle, especially for the transfer of older people with a disability in their mobility," declared the first mayor of Blanca.

Along with Laorden have been Councilwoman Universal Accessibility, Training and New Technologies, Maria Carmen Molina, and Social Affairs and Family, Pilar Sanchez, who have played, according to the mayor, a role in the efforts of the government team to eliminate barriers and make the town a place accessible to all.

Laorden recalled in his speech to all attendees that the Reina Sofia Award universal accessibility "was a prize that I had the honor of collecting the hands of His Majesty, but that is a reward for all the people, because we a city of solidarity that our commitment greatest asset, people "

The vehicle has been acquired thanks to the collaboration agreement that the city council signed last May, by which also meet the care needs of the municipality in terms of accessibility.

This initiative is part of the 'White City Solidarity "through which the town was awarded the prize last year with Queen Sofia of universal accessibility to municipalities.

Award recognizes the work continued for at least five years in the universal accessibility of persons with disabilities to the physical environment, education, leisure, culture, sport, transport, tourism and new technologies, and was delivered in March, the first mayor of the hands of Queen Sofia.

The vehicle, a 'Ford Transit 330 M Kombi', is worth about 26 000 euros which provides Cajamurcia Foundation by way of collaboration.

The car contains, inter alia, various features that make this a vehicle suitable for transporting disabled people, such as the installation of two fixed guides for the wheelchair, a folding ramp two feet, anchor chair wheels, dual seatbelt inertia for the wheelchair and a stepping stone on the outside, retractable side door.
