The series 'Rio de Letras' White brings to Javier Cercas, Drago and Maria Sanchez Dueñas (11/03/2010)

The general director of Books, Archives and Libraries, Francisco Giménez, and Mayor White, Rafael Laorden, today unveiled the schedule for 'River of Letters', the new initiative conceived within the cultural project' Blanca, Villa del Libro. "

Luis Alberto de Cuenca is the first writer to visit White on Thursday March 18, the day on which the poet Madrid recite a selection of his best works in a conference entitled 'Line Clear'.

Finally, on Friday, March 26 Juan Manuel de Prada reflect on the vicissitudes of early literary career in his speech "The discovery of literature."

During the months following the conference will continue with the intervention of the writers Maria Dueñas, Miguel Aranguren, Cesar Vidal, Javier Cercas, and César Antonio Molina.

Book Villa

The 'Villa of the Book' was launched during the month of April 2009.

With this initiative the White municipality undertakes various actions related to the field of letters, such as creating a network of special libraries throughout the county, literary workshops and celebration of the Week Literature Blanca Independent, among other activities.

The aim is to promote literary culture among the inhabitants of this town of Vega del Segura and turn it into a tourist attraction throughout the region.

Only two municipalities in Spain that have the name of Villa del Libro, Urueña (Valladolid) and White.

This title will be acquired by towns that are a work in promoting reading and related arts activities devoted to books, in a tribute to the lyrics that goes beyond a few dates.

The Book Villas network extends throughout Europe.
